The Seattle Office of Sustainability and Environment (OSE) is hosting two webinars to solicit feedback from stakeholders to inform its drafting of the Building Emissions Performance Standard (BEPS) Director’s Rule.
A Director’s Rule is required by Seattle Municipal Code (SMC) to clarify elements of the BEPS ordinance (SMC 22.925), which was signed by Mayor Harrell in December 2023. This includes details like reporting procedures, documentation, exemption and extension timelines, and more.
Register for the webinars below:
OSE will post full webinar agendas in early May, but expects to cover:
- Webinar #1: Benchmarking Verification, emissions reporting & documentation requirements, documentation for exemptions and extensions, and more.
- Webinar #2: Reporting end use deductions, building portfolio & campus reports, alternative compliance options, and more.
Each webinar will cover different topics, so please attend both if you wish to receive all information. Webinar recordings and slides will be posted online a few days after the events.
The rulemaking webinars precede an upcoming formal 3-week comment period, where OSE will invite the public to give input on the draft Director’s Rule. More information on exact dates for that will be available towards the outset of the comment period. Learn more about BEPS Rulemaking on our website.
Need a Refresher on BEPS? Since the webinars will focus on rule details, we recommend watching a brief recorded presentation that covers the basics of the BEPS law before the webinars.
Coming next week: OSE will open the application period for 2025 Building Decarbonization grants!
