By November 1, 2020, the Washington Department of Commerce must establish a state energy performance standard for commercial buildings over 50,000 square feet, as mandated by the Washington Clean Buildings Act (HB 1257) passed in May 2019.
Commerce outlined the approach to developing rules for adoption of the state energy performance standard for buildings during a webinar on October 30th. The webinar was recorded and will be available for viewing on the Department of Commerce Clean Buildings website. A number of in person pre-rulemaking workshops will follow in November and December, the tentative schedule for which is below.
The workshops will be held from 10 am – 2 pm at the Smart Buildings Center at Pacific Tower in Seattle (1200 12th Ave. S., Suite 110, Seattle, WA 98144). Please check the Department of Commerce Clean Buildings website for the exact workshop times and agendas.
