The Oregon Energy Task Force, tasked by Governor John Kitzhaber to develop a 10 Year Action Plan, submitted its report to him in early March. The report and detailed appendices can be viewed here. [NEEC Board member, Phil Welker, was a Task Force member.] Predictably panned by erstwhile reporter Ted Strickland of The Oregonian, the report offers a wide ranging vision of the Oregon energy landscape over the next decade. Task Force Chair, Michael Jung, has described the Report as an opportunity to address carbon emissions in the state while at the same time creating a real economic development opportunity for clean energy in a state already nationally respected by its efforts in this sector. Even Strickland seemed to back off his critique when analyzing the report’s view on energy efficiency. A summary of the report’s energy efficiency recommendations says;
