While the 2010 legislative session is still in recent memory, the 2011 session (no mini this time, a full session) is already on the minds of NEEC business members in Oregon. The “Oregon Caucus” of NEEC members (anyone NEEC member can participate) has been working with NEEC Oregon governmental affairs representative, Margi Hoffman (Strategies 360) to develop a prioritized list of policy ideas for consideration. (The Oregon Caucus will make recommendations to the NEEC Board of Directors on policy ideas and the Board will establish organizational priorities.) In current conversation are ideas/issues related to the Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC), energy performance disclosure requirements (residential and commercial/institutional buildings), investments in school energy efficiency projects, an energy efficiency resource standard (EERS), and more. Legislative ideas for 2011 are on an accelerated timeline this year, so look for a NEEC prioritized list by early Summer. NEEC members who want more background on these ideas and/or would like to participate in Oregon Caucus conversations should contact the NEEC office.
