Cadmus Acquires Britt/Makela Group Assets- Expands Energy-Efficient Building Code Development Services

WALTHAM, Mass., July 28, 2015—The Cadmus Group, Inc. (Cadmus) announced today that it has completed a deal to acquire the assets of Britt/Makela Group (BMG), a leading consulting firm specializing in energy-efficient building codes and standards. Cadmus will be opening an office in Boise, Idaho, the current site of BMG headquarters. BMG provides domestic and international support for the development and implementation of codes and regulations that affect the energy use of residential and commercial buildings. BMG co-founder Eric Makela, an internationally recognized expert in building codes and standards, and his team will be joining Cadmus. “We are delighted that Eric and the BMG team are joining Cadmus,” said Ian Kline, Cadmus president and CEO. “BMG’s reputation, expertise, and experience are first-rate and will complement our existing capabilities very effectively. We look forward to expanding Cadmus’ impact in the important area of building codes and standards.” BMG clients and collaborators include the International Code Council, U.S. Department of Energy, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, municipal building departments, state energy offices, utilities, material manufacturers, and regional energy-efficiency organizations. “The BMG team is very excited to bring the foundation we have built to a company with the ability to grow and expand our services,” said Makela. “Combining the expertise and experience of our staff with that of Cadmus’ leading energy-efficiency professionals enables us to not only continue providing excellent work to our current clients, but to focus our attention on the more innovative and challenging solutions needed to address the issues facing our industry.” Cadmus offers wide-ranging support services in the energy-efficiency field, including energy-efficient building codes and appliance standards.
