Attend a roundtable discussion of our region’s energy future and exports, and the climate, environmental, economic and health impacts of these choices. How can we replace regional demand with energy efficiency? How is implementation of Washington State’s Renewable Energy Standard going? What is our region’s responsibility for addressing carbon pollution from coal exported through the region to China?
Confirmed speakers include representatives from NW Energy Coalition, Sightline Institute, the NW Energy Efficiency Council and Climate Solutions. This two-hour event will be open to the public. No RSVP required.

About the Panelists
Eric de Place is a researcher, writer, speaker, and policy analyst at the Sightline Institute. Over the last decade he has spearheaded Sightline’s work on climate and energy policy, while contributing to research on demographics, stormwater runoff, transportation, land use, and economic security. He has established himself as one of the Northwest’s leading experts on strategies and policies to cut carbon emissions, producing widely influential analyses of cap-and-trade programs and carbon taxes. Mr. de Place is a widely sought-after speaker, presenter, and media spokesperson. Before coming to Sightline, he worked with the Northwest Area Foundation, developing strategies to alleviate poverty in rural communities. He has a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. Read Eric’s series on NW coal exports here.
Beth Doglio is the Campaign Director for Climate Solutions and also serves as the Director of the Power Past Coal campaign. Beth brings 20 plus years of campaign experience to Climate Solutions. Beth has worked in public, private, non-profit sectors and served in leadership staff positions in numerous political campaigns. She has managed communications, has extensive organizing and direct advocacy expertise, and significant fundraising experience. Beth has a BA from Indiana University in Political Science and Telecommunications. A mom of two young boys, she enjoys the outdoors, cycling, yoga, running, and traveling.
Nancy Hirsch is policy director of the NW Energy Coalition, an alliance of more than 115 public interest organizations, clean energy businesses and electric and gas utilities from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and British Columbia. Since 1996, Nancy has directed the Coalition’s efforts to enhance investments in energy conservation, renewable resources, and low-income energy services through work with utilities, commissioners, regulators, and legislators. The Energy Coalition promotes an energy future that is reliable and affordable with the least overall cost to society and our natural environmental. She is currently board chair of the Renewable Northwest Project and a board member of the WA Environmental Council. Prior to joining NWEC, she spent twelve years in Washington, DC working on national energy policy issues for Environmental Action Foundation and the National Wildlife Federation. She received her degree in environmental policy from the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources
Stan Price has over three decades of experience in the design and management of resource efficiency programs. He works with public, private, and not-for-profit clients helping them achieve their efficiency goals. He serves as the executive director of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council, a trade association representing businesses that provide energy efficient products and services to the Northwest marketplace. Formerly, Stan was an Assistant Director of the Washington State Energy Office and has held management and teaching positions at both Seattle University and Washington State University. Currently, he serves on numerous utility and governmental advisory committees and currently is Co-chair of Seattle City Light’s Review Panel. He is a graduate of Indiana University and the University of Colorado.
