In preparation for the 2011 Oregon Legislature, a coalition of groups including NEEC are working to help educate legislators on the value that energy efficiency projects bring to Oregon customers. Surprising to many, the basic anatomy of an energy efficiency project remains a mystery to many key policymakers. There are common misconceptions about the cost and reliability of more efficient equipment and technologies that go into buildings and how an energy efficiency project translates to creating job opportunities for professionals and skilled trades workers. Most importantly, key policymakers misconstrue a customer’s decision to deploy an energy efficiency project as motivated by “doing the right thing” as opposed to sound self-interested economics. A picture (in this case accompanied by a case study) is worth a thousand words. NEEC is helping to assemble a portfolio of Oregon energy efficiency successes. Your company’s help with this is crucial. We need examples of good projects in all end use sectors and across the state’s geography. NEEC is happy to help with the legwork of putting the case study together. We simply need your help in identifying them. If you have projects you would like to showcase, please send us a note at [email protected] and we will follow up with you.
