The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has published a strong proposed rule to increase the mandated efficiency level of gas furnaces from 80% to 95%. This change would precipitate a reduction in energy use and of greenhouse gas emissions—leading to cleaner air for everyone and serving as an important step in working to combat the climate crisis. If it takes effect, DOE estimates that over the span of 30 years, the rule would reduce carbon emissions by 373 million metric tons and methane emissions by 5.1 million tons.
Please join the NW Energy Coalition at 12pm PDT on Wednesday, August 17th to learn more about this important proposed rule, its potential for significant positive climate and economic impacts if adopted, and how you can make your voice heard. Madeline Parker from the Appliance Standards Awareness Project (ASAP) will give a short presentation on the rule and then be available for questions.
