The June NEEC Board of Directors meeting was a special occasion. It was certainly special in welcoming four new members to the Board (you can check out the current Board roster on the NEEC web site), but especially so because it marked the last meeting for Dennis Heller. Dennis was a founding Board member of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council and gave countless hours of his time to nurture the development of the organization and to provide wise counsel on issues great and small. His knowledge of the industry, his people skills, and certainly his friendship will be missed as he and his wife head to a new chapter of their lives working at a school in Mumbai, India. I have countless Dennis stories. Buy me a beer and I will tell you a bunch of them. But I’ll give you one for free here. After spending way too much of his time talking about meetings I had attended on the subject of how to “accelerate the pace of energy efficiency” in the region, Dennis simply suggested to me that I tell everyone the real secret to making more energy efficiency happen – “Just tell them we need more purchase orders!” Thanks Dennis for your support and your friendship.
