A team of three NEEC member companies have been tapped by BPA to help the agency amp up its acquisition in the industrial sector. Long an elusive gold mine of savings potential, the industrial sector has higher conservation targets than ever before. BPA is turning to a program partnership arrangement to help it gain the flexibility and expertise to acquire efficiency in this sector. From the BPA announcement of this new arrangement;
“…a new approach has been developed that includes BPA working with program partners and utilities to provide a variety of industrial services, including project development, marketing services and implementation of industrial sector energy efficiency acquisition. The new Energy Smart Industrial program is an aggressive effort to gain energy efficiency in the industrial sector with specific targets towards achieving an increase in aMW savings, higher numbers of custom projects and increased numbers of utility participants.
Cascade Energy Engineering, who has partnered with Evergreen Consulting Group and Strategic Energy Group, has been selected to partner with BPA on the new Energy Smart Industrial program. For over 15 years, Cascade Energy Engineering has consistently demonstrated high quality technical work in many industries to optimize their refrigeration, compressed-air, fan-and-pump, hydraulic, and chilled-water systems throughout the BPA service area. Evergreen Consulting Group has provided regional utility coordination for numerous residential, commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs, and currently manages several commercial and industrial lighting and mechanical trade ally networks on behalf of Northwest utility clients. Strategic Energy Group is a highly specialized firm based in Portland, Ore., that designs, implements and evaluates energy efficiency and energy management programs for commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs throughout the United States and Canada.
BPA Energy Efficiency and the newly selected program partners will work through utilities for program delivery. BPA, Cascade Energy Engineering, Strategic Energy Group and Evergreen Consulting will address each "barrier to success" by increasing the technical staff available for industrial projects, creating a standardized offer in the market, and establishing protocols for continuous and ongoing evaluation and improvement to successfully capture increased levels of energy savings in the industrial sector. “
