NEEC was announced as a recipient of a US DOE ARRA grant award on June 17th focused on curriculum development for the training of building technicians and operators. NEEC applied for the grant to support enhancements to its nationally recognized Building Operator Certification program. The BOC® project will focus in two areas — to develop new curriculum to address energy efficiency knowledge gaps, and to create a blended learning approach to course delivery using classroom, online and on-site training. The grant period is two years with tasks and funding distributed among four parties including NEEC, the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, City University of New York, and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. NYSERDA and NEEA are providing matching funds to support the initiative. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) announced the award at a press conference at the University of Washington
who also received an award for healthcare design work conducted at the university’s Puget Sound Integrated Design Lab. NEEC member company, PECI, also received an award from this solicitation for work in developing training for building commissioning.
