Washington State Building Code Council Revokes Energy Metering Requirements

The WA State Building Code Council reacted to pressure from state electrical inspectors and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and deleted the new Chapter 12 Energy Metering requirements from 2009 Washington State Energy Code. Projects permitted after their July 14th action will no longer need to comply with Chapter 12. The SBCC has asked a newly developing Energy Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to examine energy metering and recommend to the Council possible new metering requirements that could be adopted under permanent rulemaking. That TAG will not be assembled until the Fall of this year
