King County is updating its Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP) that will outline the County’s actions on climate change for the next five years. The 2020 SCAP update will focus on reducing regional greenhouse gas emissions, preparing for climate change impacts, and supporting resilience in communities disproportionately impacted by climate change.
Last month, King County hosted an Energy and Building Workshop focused on the SCAP targets for energy efficiency, supply, and production as well as building operations and the commercial green building code. The goal of the workshop was to receive guidance on how the County can contribute to success in reducing carbon emissions in the region while ensuring equitable access to clean air, technologies, and employment opportunities.
