Seattle City Light Strategic Planning – Public Input Rounds Begin

April 29, 2011 By Brittany Quigley

Over the last year, the Seattle City Light executive team under the guidance of Superintendent Jorge Carrasco has been working on the content of a strategic planning document to guide the utility over the next six years. Mayor Mike McGinn and the Seattle City Council appointed a 9 person “Review Panel” to work with the SCL executives in the development of the plan – not as authors or endorsers per se, but as a sounding board on its shape and direction. NEEC Executive Director, Stan Price, co-Chairs the Review Panel. Seattle City Light is preparing its first round of public meetings to get stakeholder input into the framework of the plan. Interest group meetings are scheduled throughout the month of May and two public meetings are in place for early June. This round of public input, designed to both inform stakeholders on work-to-date and solicit early input, will be followed by a second round of public involvement in the Fall when the plan has been drafted. Information about the Review Panel is available at Review Panel. Watch the NEEC events page for a posted schedule of stakeholder input meetings. NEEC members can get a members-only briefing on the Strategic Plan on June 21st at the NEEC Industry Webinar which will feature Phil Leiber, CFO of City Light and Stan Price.
