In the words of Robert Burns on Hogmanay, auld lang syne (yes, indeed, google is a dangerous thing). If in fact, Auld Lang Syne is a call to remember long-standing friendships, I want to extend it to each of you – certainly for your support of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council and the work you do to realize the potential of the cleanest and cheapest energy resource we have here or anywhere. The first decade of the 21st Century turned out to be the coming of age for energy efficiency. We ushered in the decade as an industry and a resource that was understood by a few and talked about only in the most select of venues. As the decade departs, we are front page news. Energy efficiency is now the cornerstone of a new energy economy, a new foreign policy, and an economic development engine that can pull the United States (and beyond) out of economic recession and provide permanent family wage jobs across our economy. Wow, no pressure there! At this new year and new decade, I wish you well. The realization of the potential of energy efficiency in the Northwest market will be a challenge, but there is no reason to believe that we can’t have some fun doing it. I am excited about working with you to make it happen.
 The Northwest Energy Efficiency Council transitioned to the name Building Potential in 2024. The organization’s legal name remains the same and the Board of Directors and Staff have not changed. |
