SUMMARY:Empowering Smart Buildings: Improving Productivity and Reducing Operational Costs
DESCRIPTION:Join the Smart Buildings Center (SBC) for a breakfast event on October 26th in Seattle to discuss how the built environment can integrate smart buildings strategies to increase productivity\, reduce costs\, improve building operations\, and support sustainable efforts for your organization. \nBeginning with an informal light breakfast\, attendees will be able to network and visit resource kiosks which feature items such as the real time energy performance dashboard (SkySpark) tracking building system performance of the Pacific Tower. Attendees will also see displays of building diagnostic tools available from the Tool Lending Library housed at the SBC. A smart screen board will be accessible that allows participants to view analysis visualizations of energy and performance data. \nThe formal program begins at 8:15am with a welcome address by Jim Baggs\, Customer Service\, Communications & Regulatory Affairs Officer of Seattle City Light. At 8:30am\, the SBC Board of Directors will participate in a facilitated panel discussion that highlights smart building technologies and practices and how this region is taking a leadership position in bringing these ideas to market. \nIndustry Panel: \n\nPerry England\, VP Building Performance\, MacDonald Miller\nDan McConnon\, DCYF Project Director\, WA Dept. of Commerce\nChris Roe\, Energy Procurement Manager\, Amazon\nCal Shirley\, VP of Customer Solutions\, Puget Sound Energy (retired)\nBert Van Hoof\, Partner\, GPM Azure IoT\, Microsoft\nPhil Welker\, Executive Director\, PECI\n\nThis is a free event but space is limited. \n

SUMMARY:Northwest Demand Response + Energy Storage Summit
DESCRIPTION:The First Focused Event on Demand Response and Energy Storage in the Northwest. \nDemand response (DR) and energy storage are two interrelated pillars for building a more flexible and resilient electric grid and optimal energy resource mix for the Pacific Northwest. Join us as we chart the way. Radical changes in energy sources\, distribution and usage are surging through the electrical infrastructure of the Northwest. For example\, the Northwest Power and Conservation Council’s Seventh Power Plan has recommended that at least 600 megawatts of DR should be developed to meet the region’s peaking and system adequacy needs. Similarly\, utilities\, C&I companies and consumers are beginning to deploy energy storage systems (and considering options at scale) that will impact system-wide demand\, reliability and efficiency. To help advance these important trends\, Smart Grid Northwest is hosting the Northwest Demand Response & Energy Storage Summit. Join leaders at regional utilities\, and those working with them\, who are exploring and implementing DR and energy storage options.
